New grants to help you cut energy costs

South Australian businesses can now apply for grants of up to $75,000 to help cut your energy bills and future-proof your operations.

The Powering Business Grant – part of the State Government’s $154 million Business Growth Fund – is helping small and medium sized businesses and not-for-profits invest in upgrades that reduce energy use and costs.

Grants are available across two streams:

  • Stream 1: Solar and battery projects – install solar with battery storage to generate and store your own power.
  • Stream 2: Energy efficiency projects – upgrade equipment or infrastructure (like lighting, refrigeration or insulation) to reduce energy use.

The SA Government will cover half of your total project cost, with eligible grants ranging from $2,500 to $75,000.

Applications close 5pm, Friday 31 October 2025, or until funding is fully allocated.

Kytons Bakery

Kytons Bakery used a previous grant to install solar panels and battery storage.

One business already benefiting is Kytons Bakery in Edwardstown, which received a $36,834 grant in Round 2 to install solar panels and battery storage.

Owner of Kytons Bakery, Sharon Sutton, said the upgrade is expected to save the family-run bakery up to $29,000 a year on electricity costs.

"Bakeries use a lot of electricity, especially for ovens and refrigeration. Electricity was a big cost to the business," said Sharon.

"The 60kw of solar panels and battery we purchased with the Energy Efficiency Grant has meant a saving of 30- 60% on our monthly power bill – freeing up money for us to spend in other parts of the business."
